Rev. Rouse was born September 26, 1928 in Tacoma, Washington. After growing up in Pierce County, he entered the Air Force and served as a medic during the Korean War. After leaving the Air Force, he moved to the home of his sister in Cottage Grove, Oregon and began working in the Lumber Mill there.
On November 15, 1952 he married Hattie Hutton, from Eugene, Oregon. As they began their new life together in Springfield, Oregon, they began attending First Baptist Church of Springfield. It was there that both James and Hattie were presented with the gospel and surrendered their lives to Christ in November of 1961.
In 1965, James and Hattie along with their three daughters- Sheryl, Carol, and Linda, returned to Bremerton, Washington where James was employed by Puget Sound Naval Shipyard as a Machinist. In 1967, their fourth child, Patty was born. The family moved to Port Orchard in the early 70's and began attending First Baptist Church of Port Orchard. In 1975 James felt the call of God upon his life to preach and was licensed then later ordained by First Baptist Church of Port Orchard, Washington. God's call upon his life continued to broaden and in 1976 James left the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard to minister full time. God had placed a burden on Pastor Rouse's heart for new mission work. In 1976 he was called by First Baptist Church to Pastor a new mission work in the Artondale area of Gig Harbor, Washington. He graduated from Liberty Home Baptist Institute in 1977.
Since that time Pastor Rouse has ministered in churches in Texas, and New Mexico, as well as Western Washington. In 1994, Rev. James F. Rouse returned to his first love - Mission Work, when he was called by Evergreen Baptist Church to serve as Pastor of a new mission outreach in the Key Center area. That mission is now Key Peninsula Baptist Church.
